A Few Recent Bird Photos & Sightings

It appears winter has finally come. Tuesday morning I woke up to see a decent layer of snow covering the ground. So I got up early to do a bit of birding and what would you know, there, sitting on a distant fence post, was a Snowy Owl! My first of the year for my yard! A little later I ended up seeing and photographing my first Red Crossbill of the year (finally)! Not too often at the end of the year do I see two new Yardbirds in one day. With the Snowy Owl and Red Crossbill now added to my yard list, I am now at 179 species for my yard this year! At the beginning of the year I was just hoping to get 160, and now I’m just one away from 180! Not many other interesting birds hanging around lately, though I have seen a few more White-winged Crossbills, Bohemian Waxwings and even found 5 (possibly 7) Hoary Redpolls in one day!

Here are my recent photos...
